2cents on child raising

So after a short hiatus I am back. Had a baby along the way and things are going great. Baby Hannah appears to be sleeping at night with some work on our end but slowly and hopefully she will continue down this path. I will be giving out baby tips on a later post but this one more or less addresses my thoughts on other peoples thoughts on how to raise your newborn/child.

Sample Conversation:
Mom- after baby poop... u change diaper..
Me - uhhh thanks mom...
Mom - if no change baby get diaper rash
Me - I know mom
Mom -that hurt the baby

This is just one of many conversations I have had... it appears everybody has an opinion they want to share with you on how to raise your kid.. let's also keep in mind all these opinions contradict the one you just heard 5 minutes prior from somebody else.. another thing is your way of doing things is never right.. so in short.. filter out these opinions as best you can and stay the course..

DC Restaurant Week

For restaurant week this year we went to a place called Passionfish...

Place: Passionfish

Location: 11960 Democracy Drive
Reston Town Center Reston, VA 20190

Whole deep fried Flounder and Whole Red Snapper with a lemon beurre blanc sauce.... both very good.. although the deep friend flounder was nothing more then a fried fish with nuoc mam on it.. a good ole Vietnamese classic.. snapper was good and cooked perfectly and sauce was on the side so I can control my sodium intake..
Service was excellent and the waiter made sure my fish and bucket of fries was sodium free and he was very attentive.. I would definitely go back...

nesting...

So I have been away busy and unable to post as much as I would have liked.. doing what you ask?! nesting... wtf... who created this term?! bet $500 it was a woman.. for those of you wondering what nesting it means "preparing the home for arrival of a little one".. so it requires cleaning everything at least once and maybe twice.. and organizing things in such a way to be prepared for the baby.. and putting baby gear together... hard work.. but I figure I better get it done now with football season around the corner..

I haven't even tackled the crib yet... we got the stroller and I looked at the damm thing and was like crap I actually gotta read the manual on how to install this in the car.. so I said ehhh maybe later...

.. side note.. sure is weird seeing #4 Favre in a vikes jersey..

Ramen

This was the first place we hit after hitting the island. Staying along the lines of Hawaii another favorite of mine is Ramen.. the broth is the key on this and is difference maker.. the pork is also money..

Location: Waikiki, Hawaii
Place: 2141 Kalakaua Avenue Suite 1
Honolulu, HI 96815
Restaurant: Ramen Nakamura
Food: Shoyu Ramen with wakame (seaweed)

This place also has combination meals where you can add either dumplings and/or fried rice to your ramen for a few extra bucks... and of course they have Sapporo on tap!

Jack and Jill Baby Showers.....

First off thanks to all who came to "our" baby shower... it's difficult these days getting everybody together and it was wonderful to catch up and chill and find out what's going on in everybody's lives... meant alot to me to have my friends drive out to share in "our" baby shower... with that said....

Jack and Jill - co-ed baby showers - man - woman - boy - girl.. whatever you call these things... my 2cents on this still stands, I am an opponent of turning once sacred unisex events into co-sex events.. stealing a line from a fellow blogger.. "is nothing sacred anymore?" next thing you know the bachelor and bachelorette's party will become co-ed..wtf.... BUT

If you are forced to do one I realized here are a few key things you need to have:
  1. Space separation.. adequate space is required for separation of the sexes.. the men need to be isolated from the women and their chattering/games/gossip
  2. BEER - can't be stressed enough... helps dull the pain and of course makes everything better.. beer should also be placed in the separate man area...
  3. Gambling - poker/blackjack this provides the visage this is just another night of playing cards...
Thanks again to all who came out...

random food post..

As most of my friends know.. i love food.. so from time to time i will post various food blogs that i have come across in my travels...

Location: Waikiki, Hawaii
Place: Ala Moana Food Court
Restaurant: Curry House
Food: Chicken Katsu Curry

the best.. just looking at it makes me drool.. it's a fairly simple dish with crispy friend chicken on a bed of rice with curry sauce with seaweed in it.. i would definitely break the low sodium diet for this one.. (blog on that at a later date/time)

the right to bitch....

i constantly see people complain about this and that.. people will come to me and tell me that "they can't believe this person did this.. did that.. to them... and they are pissed..." the rest of the conversation usually goes like this:

dao- "did you say anything to them?"
complainer - "no"
dao - "why not?"

most of the time imo you have "lost the right to bitch" it goes along the lines of speak now or forever hold your peace...

i understand the natural human tendency is to avoid conflict.. as well as being asian we tend to be submissive.. recently i was in a situation myself where the roles were reversed.. and i too was pissed.. and opted the road of "no conflict"... it's always easier when the ball is in the other court...

... i had lost my right to bitch...
